Carolina Herrera is a Venezuelan fashion designer known for her impeccable personal style and for dressing America’s First Ladies from Jacqueline Onassis to Michelle Obama.
Herrera began her career working as a publicist for Italian fashion designer, Emilio Pucci in Caracas before moving to New York in 1980. It was here that the then Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, Diana Vreeland, suggested Herrera design a clothing line. The rest, as the say, is history
This year sees Herrera celebrate her 35th anniversary in the fashion business and her artistic eye is still firmly on the ball. The recent Resort 2017 collection is as feminine, elegant and sophisticated as you would expect from the House of Herrera.
Carolina Herrera’s resort collection is a celebration of the iconic style renowned to The House. Marking 35 years of fashion, Carolina Herrera was established with an eye for having a fresh take on femininity and elegance. The new collection embodies that spirit with signature motifs in whimsical black and white polka dots and sharp stripes, – in navy, white and multicolor – accentuated by feminine details and new silhouettes done in a fun and flirty way. Impeccable and crisp tailoring creates structure and sleek refinement for daywear, highlighting the collection’s play on proportions and contrast with oversized and slim silhouettes in fabrics that range from denim to sequin embroidery. Taking couture techniques and reinterpreting them for today, shapes soften as they float into evening with multi layered pleated tulle and metallic dot files coupe and matching embroidery on t-length skirts and dresses.
The palette is strong and graphic with neutral tones transitioning into bold hues for evening including shell pink, poppy red, and marigold – all evoking vibrancy for day to night.
