It’s that time of year again when fashion designers are revealing their Resort collections. This time for 2017. I’m not usually a huge fan of Resort collections as they are often not to my taste or liking. The odd collection does appeal to me and one recently that has done just that is Fendi.
What is Resort Wear?
First things first. What is Resort wear? Sometimes also called cruise-wear or pre these collections were once seen as for the very affluent customer who was likely to spend the post-Christmas/New Year’s weeks cruising the Mediterranean or some other warm climate. Presented by many designers from May to July, these days pre-collections offer a glimpse at a brand’s intentions for the upcoming seasons. Brands can also make more profit with four collections a year rather than their regular seasonal collections of Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.
Fendi Goes Graphic
So back to Fendi’s Resort 2017 collection. Designed by Karl Lagerfeld the collection is a feast of bold graphic prints, traditional American red-and-white quilting motifs, and checkered patterns. Whilst I can’t say the entire collection appeals to my taste, it’s the fun bold prints, checks, stripes, and colours and that make this collection stand out the most for me.
