Mostly inspired by photos of a past trip to Istanbul as a teenager, Lela Rose sourced inspiration from Byzantine silks and Turkish tiles for her Pre-Fall 2016 lineup. In shades of coral, blue and sea-green dubbed “Bosphorus green,” after the region’s famous strait, Rose worked her cocktail dresses and evening separates in rich textural fabrics.
Decorative touches, such as metallic vine embroidery, colorful floral lace and abstracted tile prints, added to the look. The most interesting dress silhouette featured folded, architectural sleeves, a nod to the traditional costumes worn by Turkey’s Whirling Dervishes.
